Truck securing with cargo bar

Help to make our roads safer

Road safety is particularly important to ensure that routes can be travelled without accidents. Cargo securing plays a very decisive role here, because inadequately secured loads inevitably lead to an accident. Particular attention should be paid to cargo securing in the case of trucks, as this involves large quantities of goods hitting the roads every day. An excellent aid here is a cargo bar for the truck, which helps to anchor the load sufficiently.

Whether it’s for a box truck or a panel van, cargo bars can be used to flexibly secure the load in the load compartment. The idea is that the load is clamped between the beam and the securing wall so that it cannot slip during the journey. This is also called a form fit. Cargo securing in the truck can be done both horizontally and vertically using a telescopic cargo bar that requires no additional aids. It is clamped either between the two walls or between the vehicle roof and the vehicle floor. The two rubber feet attached to it are tensioned so that the cargo is secured in the truck. It is important here for the base surface to be solid, otherwise the necessary tension cannot be applied.

The cargo bars used for transporters can be individually adapted to the length or height of the vehicle. Depending on the model, the adjustment in length is made for a toothed rack, which is locked with a lever.

trucks or transporters transport different goods and thus also different weights. The cargo bar for cargo securing should be adapted accordingly in terms of its own load so that it can hold the weight of the goods being transported if required. For this reason, each cargo bar has a load indication, which is given in the unit of measurement daN. Many manufacturers state a value of up to 250 daN, but this is often not really suitable in reality. This is not least due to the rubber feet, which, depending on wear and surface condition, often start to move much more quickly, jeopardising cargo securing in the truck. If the rubber feet have already started to show wear, they should therefore be replaced quickly.
